Hi DH - I was just reading your thread concerning YaHoo and ‘buying your way to the top’, so to speak.
Here’s my 2 cents worth.
Don’t waste your money! You’ve got all the right stuff in place and as your membership grows it should really snowball. Since your blog and forum will have continous fresh content the Big 3 will be crawling here non-stop as it is. I’ve had people spend 1000’s to get in a position they would have wound up in anyway. It only accelerates things slightly. Patience, patience, patience ....
for example: Start a WM tech thread on PHP scripts. A simple question like ‘Whats your favorite thumbnail script?’ or something similar. WMs really respond to that sort of thing because they are usually facing the same challenges. WMs are always looking for free stuff. You could package and Zip say 50 GNU scripts and make it easy for the various WMs to get all the scripts they hear about in one place. Not all 50 in one zip. Say 2 a week every Tuesday. News travels fast among WMs. It wouldn’t cost you anything and it would drive membership up. The zip download area would be for logged in members only though huh? GayWebmasters would become one of their bookmarks for sure.
Simple things like that usually go much further then your hard earned $$$ when it comes to building traffic. IMHO !
Well, I seem to have way overshot the 2 cent figure! I haven’t had the time to go through your entire site but it sure looks good DH. You’ve done a bunch of hard work here and ‘my hats off to ya bub!’.
Thanks for your kind words and great feedback! Just for the record, I was considering paid inclusion for one of my end user sites. I was however thinking about express inclusion, but dropped that when I realized that the biggies already had GW in the index. I forgot that there’s technically been a webpage on this domain for a long ass time, but it just had a few webmaster referral links on it.
