Hi I started a new hosted site in January.  It is a mobile chat based site and being totally free, I feel, has some good features. At the moment Im not too concerned about earning money but obviously if it comes I won’t turn it down! I’m under no illusions that my site will ever become an all conquering market leader.  My aim is just to run a honest site where members can chat freely without censorship (legal of course) with a solid user base and regular new traffic. Since zero traffic when I started in Jan I’ve had 300 people sign up. However as it is a chat/message based site my main problem is keeping members online. When they log-in or sign up if no-one is online most are soon gone and many do not return. I imagine I’m not the only person with this problem.
I have exchanged links with several sites, started a directory and gallery, but I don’t really want a porn fest site. As I only have basic XHTML and CSS knowledge, a marketing budget of zilch, do everything on a mobile and a hosted site my options are limited. However I shall keep going so any ideas, suggestions would be gratefully accepted.

Kevin: Just wanted to acknowledge your post and congratulate you for the work you’ve done to help people connect.
